Senior Designer / Assistant Art Director
at York & Chapel in New Haven County
About Us:
York & Chapel is an integrated marketing & design agency seeking to fill a full-time design position to assist the design team on upcoming projects in our Connecticut office.
We are a small but diverse firm with offices in New York, New Haven area (Milford), San Francisco and Vancouver. Our work ranges from identity development, branding, web design, print media, online marketing, social marketing, search engine optimization, e-commerce sites, advertising, and programing. Our client list ranges from underground skate boarding companies, fashion boutiques, financial companies, non-profit organizations to larger corporations. About 75% of our work is interactive.
About the Position:
The design position we are looking to fill will require a high level of design skill, creativity, time management, a good sense of humor, and dedication. Ability to think creatively, and strategically with in a client's parameters. You must be very independent as well as collaborative, thus being able to discuss your ideas and move forward with little to no hand holding, as well as take in feedback from other members of our team.
-Candidates (around 4 years experience) MUST ALREADY have interactive/website layout experience and be able to handle multi-page InDesign documents with style sheets.
-Must be able to multi-task and handle tight timelines.
-You will need to guide other designers (a talented team of three) with direction on completing a project successfully. Helping them to select the right concepts to move forward with, avoid paths or concepts that are off target and too time consuming as well as just recommending some finishing touches to finalize layouts.
-Read creative briefs to ensure that a project is ready for the creative team to begin (having all needed elements, a definitive and clear direction on what needs to be done), and pointing out anything that will make the creative strategy even stronger.
-Needed skills:
Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. The position does not require programming skills, but an overall understanding of how to design for the web is important. Video work or other skills are certainly a plus.
-Benefits:
A full-time position has benefits such as Health care, 2 weeks paid vacation and a 401K/retirement program complete with company matching. We also have a pet fish.
Please send portfolio samples to hellodesign@yorkandchapel.com.
