There are many reasons to pursue an advanced degree. But many working designers face the same question: Can I afford to invest the time and money to go back to school? Do I have the drive and desire? And what will ultimately be the return on such an investment?

While Mark Snyder, Brian Miller and Bjorn Akselsen each had their own individual reasons for pursuing an advanced degree, they all agree it was a valuable experience that impacted both their professional and personal lives.

Deb Kline: Hiring Habits & Horror Stories

Currently, she is Director, Branding Packaging & Merchandising at Group 4 in Avon, as well as an Adjunct Professor at the HAS and President of the CADC for the 2007-2008 season.

Smizer Perry Wins ACE Awards

Smizer Perry of New London was honored with three ACE awards by the Business Marketing Association of NYC at an event held at Le Parker Meridien in New York on June 17, 2008. Their work for CMP Media to create the bmighty.com website garnered a Silver ACE Award for the bmighty.com logo. bMighty.com is an online resource for small and midsize business and IT decision makers. They were also honored with Bronze ACE Awards for both the Starbak logo and Starbak stationery system. Starbak provides fully integrated components that video-enable any IP network.

Jargon Boy Spotlighted in GDUSA

Jargon Boy, a boutique design shop in Fairfield, is featured in the new issue of Graphic Design USA. The piece highlights the studio’s work on a series of posters for The Fairfield Museum and History Center, and features quotes from Creative Director Greg Chinn. “Chinn designed a poster series of six historic landmarks — including a windmill, a lighthouse and a famous airport — using updated colors and simple graphic shapes with a mid-century sensibility to create a funkier look and hopefully draw a fresh audience to the 103 year-old museum’s work.”
